Frequently Asked Questions

Preparation

Do I need to empty my garage or space before installation?

Yes, please note we do not move any items and the homeowner will need to remove all personal items before and after installation.

How do I clean my garage floor before you arrive?

Please do not hose off the garage, we will take care of all the cleaning. Just make sure your garage is empty!

I have a previous epoxy floor I did myself, can you remove it?

Yes. The removal can be part of our prepping process. This process is an additional charge. Please contact us for additional installation.

Installation

How do you prepare the concrete?

We typically diamond grind the floor. We do not use any water or acid.

My garage floor has paint, oil, stains, cracks and holes. Does that have to be fixed first? How do you fix them?

Chips, cracks, and divots are expertly repaired using our two-part concrete mender and ground flush for a seamless finish. Our installers will address any cracks or holes in your floor to ensure a smooth surface. Oil and other stains are removed during the grinding process for optimal adhesion. If your garage has tile, carpet, or existing epoxy, please contact us for specific removal and preparation details.

What is the lead time for an installation?

Typically we only need a few days notice, during our busy season we may need a 1-2 week notice. Please give us a call.

Will rain affect my install?

Typically no. Each situation is different but rarely does it affect our installation process.

Do you flake the stem wall (the concrete border)?

Epoxy Armor Systems includes coating the stem wall (the concrete border around your garage) to match the floor at no additional cost for standard sizes of 6 inches or less. Please note, stem walls won’t have the same texture as the floor due to their vertical surface, which prevents the clear coat from being applied as thickly. Additionally, no prep work is performed on the stem walls; they are simply cleaned and coated as is.

What about felt?

Felt is not a concrete surface and will remain visible around the perimeter of the concrete. What is felt? It is often used in expansion joints, which are intentional breaks between concrete slabs designed to allow movement and expansion with changing weather. The felt material serves as a shock absorber, protecting the concrete from cracking over time.
